Pass Countryside Shops, pristine Amish farms and schoolhouses, while learning the history, culture, crafts and culinary delights of Amish and Mennonite peoples.

Highlights

• Learn the benefits of traditional farming, without the use of modern equipment, at a local Amish farm.
• Enjoy a professional live musical production in the majestic 1911 Round Barn Theatre.
• Visit a traditional one-room Amish School to learn the ways of the Amish education system, and see how traditional buggies and carriages are made at a buggy shop.

Highlights

• All generations will love the hands-on farm activities, craft demonstrations, a scavenger hunt, buggy ride, wagon ride and an old-fashioned spelling bee.
• Share the magic of a live performance at Indiana’s only resident musical repertory theater company. Talk to the actors and go behind the scenes.
• Visit a traditional one room Amish School House. Visit a buggy shop where traditional buggies and carriages are handmade.

Activity Notes

Walking up to 2 miles over the course of a day. Must be able to travel by motor coach for field trips. Program is highly dependent on intergenerational interaction and participation.

• Absorb the sights and sounds of a working farm, alive with barnyard hens, livestock, gardens and an apple orchard.
• Enjoy two exceptional professional theatrical performances at the historic Round Barn Theatre, plus enjoy a special look at what happens backstage.

Activity Notes

Walking the equivalent of a few blocks on flat farm terrain.

Amish Country Christmas

This year, give yourself the gift of learning on a unique holiday adventure through Amish Country. Stimulating presentations paint an intricate portrait of Amish and Mennonite culture and the accompanying holiday customs. Meet Amish and Mennonite people on a countryside tour, in an Amish School, in a baking demonstration led by true old order Amish and at the dinner table. Pick up your Christmas stocking at the beginning of your adventure and fill it to the brim on your many visits to area shops. As a special highlight, meet and dine with the cast of the current production as well as enjoy a performance of the current production in the Round Barn Theatre. Lodging is provided at The Inn at Amish Acres.
